meet ANDREA
I'm Andrea Wilson and I am a child mental health counselor in the Land O’Lakes area. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified School Counselor, and I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling from The University of South Florida. I have 16 total years of experience counseling children between the ages of 4-18 in both the school and clinical setting. My specialties include early childhood disorders, behavior concerns, emotional regulation, anxiety/stress, school difficulties, impulsivity, anger management, and self-image.
I am a firm believer in the importance of cultivating a positive relationship within a safe space and use highly engaging strategies with my young clients to encourage buy-in.
I use a combination of approaches including person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused. I strive to provide parents with practical, tangible suggestions to maximize growth and often will provide strategy tools or resources.
I am passionate about helping children and parents find solutions and learn to cope with difficult feelings, situations, and am skilled in forging relationships through play, art, and high engagement strategies. I believe in every SINGLE child, and thrive on the challenge of helping mitigate difficult circumstances and navigate complex feelings.
My vast experience within public education gives me a unique perspective on those systems and I can coach you on how to best partner with them to support your child.
Counseling is a calling to me, and not just a job.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a focus on children/parents and have had 16 years of counseling experience, as well as previous background in community mental health and substance abuse prevention. I also have taught professional development on various topics including behavior planning, mental health, and parent collaboration.
In my time as a school counselor, I also served as a member of the Pasco County Schools counselor leadership team. I have facilitated approximately 2,500+ meetings for Student Services teams during that time, and have expertise in developing 504 plans, IEPs, and available supports.
I live at home with my husband and my 9 year old daughter. In my free time I enjoy running, reading, shopping, and holidays. I am a fan of fancy coffee, love to laugh, and am a creative at heart. I have Christian values, I love people big, and have been told often that I am uniquely intuitive.
